Nitronic Rush

Who said cars can only move in a straight line? Let's break free from limitations and drive on walls when the road is blocked! Apparently, I'm not the only one with such wild imagination, as a group of students has brought my thoughts to life on computer screens.

Nitronic Rush is a racing game and a university project. It offers a skill-based and intuitive driving model that requires players to have great expertise. All thanks to a fresh approach to racing. So, what's it all about?

Imagine a futuristic world straight out of the famous movie Tron. Everywhere you look, there are neon lights, and cities resemble a computer-generated frenzy dominated by geometric shapes. In the midst of it all, we find ourselves as drivers of an ultra-modern machine capable of defying the laws of physics. Nothing stands in our way to test how our beast performs.

The main objective of the game is to beat records on each track. Unfortunately, there is no competition with other players or a destruction system. However, the game offers an original and slightly platforming-style gameplay. While racing, we will often have to use rocket boosters placed all over our vehicle to change our driving path. What does that mean? We will be driving on walls and even on the ceiling. Yes, you read that right. During our race against time, we will encounter missing sections of the track, so we must use our technological advancements to jump onto a wall and use it as a new driving path. Skillfully using jumps and performing aerial stunts will allow us to earn some extra points. However, we must be cautious as there are many obstacles on the track that can easily lead to a crash.

Visually, the game is incredibly impressive. The futuristic style adds a unique atmosphere to the production and immerses players from the first minutes of gameplay. The sound design, although not as outstanding, is also appropriately matched.

Do I recommend it? Absolutely! I'm a fan of student projects, and this one surpasses many of them.
